More anger, hate and anti-whatever-you-can-pull-out-of-your-"conventional institution"-hat hardcore from these Florida upstarts. While 'Women And Children Die First' took many of us by surprise, I think we were all better prepared for the State of the Union of Discontent this go around from hardcore's newest mouthpiece, Pete Delved. And as though he couldn't have gotten enough anger and aggression out with one album, his other band, xBishopx, released their equivalent of 'ten things i hate about everything pt I' a month ago, to prepare us for the main event, which we have here in God Save Us.

This is sure to score big points with the Hot Topic mall-core generation of metal and hardcore fans. And there is no denying that in the same way that bands like The Agony Scene and Still Remains scored major points with this generation of fans, one can't deny their impeccable ability to write a catchy metal tune, afterall, they are British. And as impressed as one can be with the band's uncanny ability to write a catchy, toe tapper of a metal tune, you also have to admit that, well, Bullet For A Valentine haven't really done anything that five or six other bands haven't done more than once themselves.

How many of us remember feeling very disappointed when we first heard the last Atreyu album, The Curse? I actually remember liking it, because at the time i was going through my 'hot topic mallcore' phase, that almost everyone who wasn't into hardcore and metal before 1995 went through. It took me i think three listens to be on the same page as everyone else thinking, 'this is garbage' except for three or four songs, perhaps. I went back to listening to the first full length or no Atreyu at all after hearing that cd. And then Atreyu released their Bon Jovi cover, 'You Give Love A Bad Name'. ...and i am not ashamed to say it, i liked the cover. i liked it very much. i thought that the 80s hair metal style went very well with their particular sound.
